PTSD & Trauma Therapy — Online Therapy in Colorado
Compassionate, Trauma-Informed Support for Healing and Stability
You’re in the right place if past experiences still live in your body or nervous system — whether through triggers, shutdown, anxiety, or emotional overwhelm. You’re looking for support that honors your pace and your story.
Trauma isn’t just what happened — it’s also the ongoing impact it has on your body, emotions, relationships, and sense of safety. You may feel on edge, shut down, overwhelmed, easily triggered, or disconnected from yourself and others. Even when you know you’re safe now, your mind and body may still react as if you’re not.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and recovery is possible.
I’m David Rothman, LPC, and I provide online trauma and PTSD therapy for adults throughout Colorado. I work with people who have experienced childhood trauma, emotional neglect, abuse, relational trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, accidents, medical trauma, and other overwhelming experiences. My approach is steady, collaborative, and paced, helping you build safety and resilience while we gently work through what you’ve been carrying.
What Trauma & PTSD Can Feel Like
Trauma can affect both the mind and the body — sometimes in ways that are hard to explain.
You might notice:
hyper-vigilance or feeling constantly on guard
intrusive memories, flashbacks, or nightmares
emotional numbing or shutdown
difficulty trusting, opening up, or feeling close to others
sudden overwhelm or panic
shame, self-blame, or confusion about your reactions
avoidance of reminders of the past
irritability, anger, or feeling easily triggered
feeling disconnected from yourself or your body
Many people struggle privately with these symptoms for years — often believing they “should be over it by now.” Trauma doesn’t work that way. Your system adapted to survive.
Therapy can help it finally relax.
How Trauma & PTSD Therapy Can Help
Therapy with me is grounded, paced, and non-judgmental. We don’t force anything. Instead, we focus on building safety first — in your nervous system, in your emotions, and in your relationships.
Together, we’ll work to:
create emotional and nervous-system safety
better understand your triggers and reactions
reduce shame and self-criticism
develop tools for calming overwhelm
heal attachment wounds and relational trauma
strengthen self-trust and self-compassion
reconnect with your sense of meaning and identity
The goal is not to erase the past — but to help it stop running your present.
My Approach to Trauma Therapy
My work is attachment-based, emotionally focused, trauma-informed, and psychodynamic. That means we explore not just the event — but how trauma shaped your relationships, emotions, and sense of self.
I also integrate AEDP (Accelerated Experiential Dynamic Psychotherapy), a compassionate approach that supports healing through safe, emotional processing within a strong therapeutic relationship.
We go at a pace that feels manageable. You stay in control of the process.
Types of Trauma I Commonly Work With
I support adults who have experienced:
childhood trauma or emotional neglect
physical, emotional, or sexual abuse
relationship and attachment trauma
spiritual or religious trauma
narcissistic / controlling family systems
medical or health-related trauma
grief and complicated loss
accidents, threat, or overwhelming stress
You do not have to minimize or justify your experience here. If it affected you — it matters.
